Meet Wendy:

Wendy is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 40 years of diverse experience, spanning oncology, hospice care, case management, and nursing education. With a unique blend of clinical expertise and academic achievements, including a BSN and an MA in musicology, Wendy brings a multifaceted perspective to her work. Her passion for continuous learning is evident in her pursuit of numerous graduate studies, from nursing ethics to integrative healthcare. As a Certified Case Manager and award-winning practitioner, her contributions extend beyond the hospital walls, with numerous publications on critical topics such as spiritual care, stress management, and human trafficking.

Short Bio:

Wendy Stiver (RN, CCM, BSN, MA) brings 40 years of clinical and leadership experience. She has worked in various settings, including oncology, hospice, case management, and nursing education.

Since her graduation as a Registered Nurse in 1981, Wendy has both completed her BSN from the University of the State of New York/Excelsior College, a Master of Arts in musicology from the University of Southern California/Thornton School of Music, as well as graduate coursework in American history, gender studies, nursing ethics, qualitative research, and integrative healthcare. She completed the Education for Ministry program at the University of the South, and participates in a variety of interfaith and social justice activities.

Clinically, Wendy has expertise in oncology and end-of-life care, and is a Certified Case Manager. She has held roles in direct patient care and leadership positions managing multidisciplinary teams and hospital units.

Some highlights of Wendy's career include:

  • Clinical leadership roles in both nonprofit and for-profit hospices.

  • Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative Award of Excellence in 2005.

  • Leading the nursing quality improvement committee in a large metropolitan hospital

  • Developed and implemented a hospital-wide stress management program for hospital staff.

  • Working as an instructor, mentor, and preceptor for nursing students and new graduates.

  • Publishing articles, book chapters, and texts on topics including spiritual care, stress management, impairment in the workplace, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

Wendy continues to share her expertise as a nurse writer/content expert, developing continuing education content for nurses on emerging topics. She is a passionate advocate for issues related to human trafficking, gender-based violence, cultural competence, and racial justice.
