Meet Alastair:

Alastair Hilton is a social work development and learning specialist, researcher, survivor, and co-founder. He has founded male survivor-focused NGOs in the UK and Cambodia and conducted groundbreaking research on sexual abuse and exploitation of boys. He has developed a toolkit for practitioners working with boys following sexual exploitation and abuse and is dedicated to promoting the rights of male survivors.

Short Bio:

In 1997, Alastair founded First Step in the UK, an NGO focused on male survivors. In 2010, he founded First Step Cambodia, also focusing on male survivors. In 2012, he founded the South-South Institute on Sexual Violence Against Men and Boys.

Alastair was the lead researcher and author of "I Thought It Could Never Happen to Boys," a groundbreaking study of sexual abuse and exploitation of boys in Cambodia. He has worked on numerous studies related to sexual exploitation, abuse, and sexual violence, including projects related to online sexual exploitation and abuse and the Global Boys Initiative.

In 2020, Alastair developed the unique "Bridging the Gap" toolkit for practitioners working with boys following sexual exploitation and abuse. The toolkit has been translated into several languages.

Alastair is working to develop further strategic partnerships with various global development organizations. He is designing and implementing research related to sexual exploitation and abuse and developing programs, prevention, support, and learning initiatives.

Alastair's impressive body of work and dedication to the rights of male survivors make him an essential figure in the field of social work and sexual violence prevention.
